Praying for the Unexpecteds

The FULL STORY behind this MEME:

I will admit it! Before taking a photo, I am already composing a Nudge to Prayer in my mind! As Jack walked to his office at KBTC through a cloud yesterday morning, I was thinking that he had all he needed for the day – his hat, briefcase, computer, umbrella (it poured moments after he left for his office) and he had even remembered to take his cell phone (but he had forgotten to charge it).

I also knew that his day, would be filled with unexpected/ unplanned phone calls, emails, visits and events! Being truly prepared for his day, especially during this time when God is definitely at work around KBTC, must also include a quality prayer time/devotions before leaving the house and truly seeking God’s guidance for the unknowns!

Thus this is another of those "If you don't know how to pray for missionaries today, pray for..." as the unexpected/ unplanned events are a part of every missionaries' days and often offer incredible opportunities to join our Father in His work!

Praying for safety in travel

This scene is just one of the many obstacle moments encountered on our way from Nairobi to the KBTC campus this morning AND this is one of the longest stretches without potholes and disintegrating pavement! Also a good reminder to pray for those sharing His Story with those of other faiths and beliefs. The obstacles they face may not be as obvious, but they are just as real and around every corner!

Praying for the Unknowns

Yesterday a college friend sent this message: “I don't know why you're more on my mind this week. Lots of prayers for rest, reassurance, and patience for you.” My ‘epistle’ reply began with, “Thank you. Last week was a long week.” This week is also becoming a long week filled with unexpected joys and sorrows, which leaves us very thankful for those who stay “alert and always keep on praying” for us EVEN when you’re not sure of the details!

Ramadan in Africa

“Millions of Muslims across Africa observe Ramadan, which provides a unique opportunity for God to draw them to the Gospel” as they “fast and seek after spiritual truth. Discover how God is moving among Muslims” through photos and “stories of Muslims encountering God in a real and unique way as they search for the spiritual truth.” Ramadan in Africa* offers guidance in how Believers “can pray for Muslims in Africa during the month of Ramadan.” The 2014 observance of Ramadan began on the evening of Saturday, June 28, and ends the evening of Monday, July 28.

One Sacred Effort/Find your Place in God's Story

NEEDED: Believers to join others in "One Sacred Effort." Why? Because “We are part of this effort, this story... Each of us, as individuals, families and churches, is called to find our place in the story and move forward obediently.”

How do we find our place in God’s story?” IMB is ready “to help you... to partner with you and your church on this journey to bring the Gospel to the nations...Your part of God’s story is critical, and the ways He can use you and your church now are endless. We’ll help you every step of the way. If you are ready to make a small step or a big journey, we’re there to go with you.”
